Cycle Chic has teamed up with Muuse.com to make a film combining Muuse's brilliant fashion with Velorbis bicycles. They headed out to one of the many beaches around Copenhagen last Friday to shoot and here are some of the still photos from the day, starring the Velorbis Dannebrog.
Dannebrog (pronounced ’Dan-eh-broh’) is a beautiful red upright bike for ladies that reflects the history and heritage of Denmark and its world renowned chic and relaxed cycling culture.
The Dannebrog classic ladies bicycle pays homage to its namesake; the legendary national flag of Denmark and its monarchy. It is the oldest state flag in the world still in use, dating back to the 13th century. Velorbis has taken inspiration from this royal Danish icon and created a fitting tribute in a bicycle that has true prestige. The Dannebrog flag is red with a white Scandinavian cross that extends to the edges of the flag. This is reflected in the colour scheme of the bicycle, from the stunning, fire-engine red of the frame through to the light blonde tyres.
This is a traffic-stopping bicycle. The elegant, feminine shape of the light-weight steel lugged frame has been taken from the timeless and popular Victoria Classic ladies model and features all the best-in-class components and accessories synonymous with Velorbis.
It has stainless steel rims and stainless steel spokes and is fully equipped with luxurious Brooks brown leather saddle (B67s), Brooks leather handle grips and a Brooks leather mud flap.
Velorbis bicycles were part of a historic day in Copenhagen politics when Denmark's first ever female prime minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt met with the Queen to ask to form a government. All ministers from the Liberal party - De Radikale Venstre - who are part of Denmark's new coalition government, decided to arrive in style at the Queen's residence on Velorbis Victoria Classic ladies and Velorbis Churchill Classic gents bicycles.
It was an entrance to remember and highlights perfectly the chic cycling culture that Danes of all professions and walks of life hold close to their hearts as part of their everyday lifestyles. The new government has announced that it will integrate green policies as a main element of their administration in order to make Copenhagen even more bicycle friendly.
Velorbis is proud to be selected by the Cycling Embassy of Denmark as the bicycle brand to represent and promote Danish cycling culture and excellence, and its worldwide benefits.
The Cycling Embassy of Denmark has chosen a comprehensive network of expert members from private companies, local authorities and non-governmental organizations: first class bicycle design (as represented by Velorbis), city planning, cycling promotion, parking facilities and cycling tourism. Velorbis is working with the Embassy and other members to promote and communicate cycling solutions and know-how on a global scale so that other international locations can incorporate happy, healthy cycling cultures into their social infrastructures.
Denmark is known as one of the countries with the most cyclists. International interest has never been as great as now, particularly with the focus on sustainable, carbon conscious travel and healthy lifestyles. It’s also the fastest and easiest way to get around a city.
Here are some quick fire facts about cycling in Copenhagen:
• 9 out of 10 Danes have a bicycle.
• The number of cars in the centre of Copenhagen dropped from 319,000 in 2002 to 289,000 in 2008.
• 37% of Copenhagen’s citizens cycle to and from work. The city’s objective is that 50% of its citizens will use a bicycle as their means of transport by 2015.
• Every Dane cycles 1.1 km on average each day.
• 17% of adult males and 36% of adult females use a bicycle to get to and from work or education.
• 45% of all Danish children cycle to school.
• Approximately half a million bicycles are sold in Denmark each year.
• Since 1993, there have been 11 national cycle routes established in Denmark; covering a total of 4,233 km. Regional routes cover 5,874 km. Local routes cover 2,298 km.
Embassy Secretary Lise Bjørg Pedersen says: “The bicycle is the healthy, quick and inexpensive alternative to the car that many countries are seeking. But it takes time and requires know-how to create a cycling culture in a country with few or no cyclists. We have the knowledge and the solutions that are sought, and with the new Cycling Embassy we are ready to export them.”

We are delighted to unveil to you the world’s strongest basket that can carry up to 15kgs/33lbs, based on our new invention – the unique FrameFix mounting bracket (patent pending). FrameFix provides the inner core strength that enables all bicycle baskets to maximise their load capacity without compromising steering ability and balance.
The Velorbis team started a design mission a while ago – studying stylish female Copenhagen cyclists and listening to their issues and needs. We found that cyclists wanted versatile and stabile storage on two wheels so they could safely carry a couple of shopping bags and a handbag and be able to chat on their mobile phones, for example – and look good at the same time.
We also found that current baskets on the market are often too small and are fitted to the handlebars on bicycles, which affects the steering and balance when the basket is full and when turning. Our design team therefore rethought the whole mounting system. Like the popular front carriers on Velorbis gents bicycles, our FrameFix bracket invention attaches to the head tube instead of the handlebars, so that the accompanying basket remains in a fixed position whenever elegantly manoeuvring through traffic, providing extra strength and stability when cycling.
Now you can multi-task on two wheels – such as carrying extra shopping bags, a pet dog, gifts, and flowers, etc. – and look super-stylish, of course.
